As the day began the world was covered in a mixture of snow and mist, but inside the air was warm and bright with the sound of a wedding.

What's that bumping in the night? All the ghouls, ghasts and gangsters were out haunting on Halloween night, a little too old for trick or treating but too young to spend the night in. For all your moments and memories.

Although New England weather conspired against a beautiful outdoor ceremony, it was still a beautiful day inside as friends and family gathered to celebrate their love. The ducks quacked happily outside as people shared laughter, pie and a lot of good cheer in spite of the dreary weather.

It's been a busy year for Katie and Ed Garrahy. Ed had promised his father a lakeside wedding but found love on the wrong coast and married in February, the compromise was to hold a reception for friends and family at the lake house in Connecticut. It was a chance for some to meet the bride and her immediate family, for friends to reunite and for everyone to coo over the latest addition.

It had been a good fifteen years since the Boyce's had last gotten together at their Hull home for a family photo and a lot had changed since then. The kids had gone away to college and then after graduating came back, only to go away again and for their mother's birthday they decided to give a little bit of themselves.

David and Sarah married on Saturday, September 5 in an intimate and beautiful ceremony at the Daniel Webster Inn in Sandwich (intimate save for a group of Japanese tourists that stopped to watch). Although the wedding was marked by some personal tragedy, the joy of two people joining their lives together was palpable.

Paul and Cassandra had already done the sensible thing and eloped a few weeks earlier, but there was clamor from their friends and family for an actual wedding. So they booked a hall near home, decorated it beautifully and brought those family and friends together to celebrate their union, dodge a bit of rain and have a great time in Connecticut.

I met up with Larry and Teresa at their Attleboro home and thought (not seeing any shotguns around) that it must be love or some ill-founded fear of deportation. We also shot n a nearby park, occassionally stopping lest Larry be embarassed by running into a former student.

Their story is a common one, she was a stunning woman and he was loud and obnoxious. They met in a bar in Bristol almost a year-and-a-half ago and as Josh descibed it he's been the house guest that never left. They were a great couple with some fun ideas and were very willing to walk around Water Place Park in Providence in spite of all the heat. I do wish them the best of luck.

The National Marine Life Center is raising money for a state-of-the-art marine hospital right on the Cape Cod Canal in Buzzards Bay. Every year they throw the Mermaid Ball, both to celebrate their work and raise money to keep the mission alive. The ball is hosted at Mass Maritime and hosts pirates, mermaids, a wonderful dinner, live music as well as auctions and raffles.

I met up with the couple around the Durfee Conservatory at their alma mater, the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in August of 2009.

Bobby and Gretchen were married in a beautiful home ceremony in front of God, family and friends on August 8, 2009. The couple honeymooned in Niagra Falls.

Matt Williams and Reilly Dunn were married on July 11 in front of friends and family at St. Mary's church in Blacksburg, Virginia. The couple met in high school and began dating their senior year, and though they may have been often apart over the past seven years they were always spiritually and emotionally together. A reception followed at the Farmhouse in Christiansburg. The couple honeymooned in San Francisco.
