Deb and Scott Tie the Knot: Grounds For Sculpture Wedding - Hamilton, New Jersey
On a very special occasion, this humble artist of Boston Wedding Photography, hits the road for a wedding far from home. Typically this has brought us to the far-flung corners of New England from the woods of Maine to the beautiful hills of the Berkshires, but for some clients we're willing to go the extra mile (or 500).
Deb and Scott were one such couple. The pair, who live in Boston, decided to get married closer to the Bride's childhood home at the gorgeous Grounds for Sculpture in New Jersey, which afforded a unique venue complete with lush grounds dotted with unique artwork to host the ceremony and a charming provincial restaurant and pavilion for the reception.
The wedding was held early on Sunday with a romantic ceremony that blended the couple's secular beliefs and some of the bride's Jewish traditions. The bridal party was dressed in a light gray with yellow accents, with the Maid of Honor in a soft yellow.
Shortly after the ceremony we escaped with the bridal party for some portraits amidst the artwork while the guests enjoyed the patio overlooking the mist-shrouded pond filled with carp and ducks paddling idyllically along the bubbling water. Also there were peacocks strutting around the grounds.
Deb and Scott rejoined the wedding reception to cheers and enjoyed their first dance. A few heartfelt speeches from friends and family followed before the couple were lifted up in the hora for a turn around the pavilion
Guests then sat for lunch at Rat's Restaurant, which draws its architectural inspiration from Claude Monet's impressionist works and his home of Giverny in northern France. The menu was similarly inspired with guests offered a vegetarian, chicken or beef option where there probably wasn't a wrong choice. This fell right in my top five wedding food experiences.
After lunch, guests rejoined the couple for cocktails and dancing. Following the wedding everyone was invited to stroll the grounds and experience the sculpture work and landscaping for themselves.
