Frequently Asked Questions: What’s Your Favorite Part of Photographing Weddings?
This is part of a short series of posts inspired by Top Ten Questions to Ask Your Boston Wedding Photographer answering some of the most important questions couples should ask their wedding photographer. Every photographer has a different story about what drew them to photographing weddings. Some are artists who want to celebrate love. Others had a bad experience with their own Boston wedding photographer and want to make sure no one has to suffer that again. Still others are failed newspaper journalists that love cake.
I have jokingly told people that my job is to eat cake and I get paid approximately $25,000 an hour to do it. The problem is that there’s only about 30 seconds of work to do every week. The truth is that I enjoy the feeling of being a part of a special event in people’s lives, swooping into this big celebration of love and community. I always leave a wedding feeling really upbeat and energized even if my feet are hurting from running around for 12 hours in dress shoes. It’s also nice when those relationships carry on past the wedding day - there are a lot of couples I’ve seen turn into families and grow in the years that I’ve been shooting weddings, and it’s incredibly rewarding.
