How to Hide Your Boston Proposal Photographer
More Boston-area couples are looking to have the moment of their proposal captured, not just for social media clout, but as a moment they’ll want to relive and cherish. But how do you fit having a photographer right there with the ideal of a surprising, romantic gesture? Luckily, your favorite Boston wedding photographer has your back.
3. Hide The Photographer - While ideal for the ambiance, this can be difficult to arrange depending on where and when you’re planning the proposal. If you’re looking to hide the photographer until the right moment, you might need to scope out the spot ahead of time and block out a plan (if you can, add some discrete markers for where you’ll want to stand to be sure you hit the right marks).
2. Pretext - If it’s too hard to hide the photographer, then incorporate them into the cover story. This has the added advantage of letting your partner know in advance they're going to be on camera, so they have an excuse to look their best.
What are some good fake outs?
Holiday portraits
Family portraits (especially if they’ve expressed interest in having family present for the proposal, or you think that’s something they’ll appreciate).
Gift - Maybe your partner always wanted to be a model or complains that you don’t have any pictures together. This is a great way to set up something a little more elaborate and not have to wear matching ugly sweaters.
Prize - Photographers are always recruiting to get shots for their portfolios, obviously your cousin forwarded you this guy’s name because the two of you are so cute together!
1. In Plain Sight - If you’re planning on a more public proposal, it’s often possible to get your photographer to hide in plain sight. Many popular places for proposals are also popular places for photoshoots, so your partner might not notice that the photographer over there isn’t focused on the model in front of them but the two of you. And then once you’ve popped the question, you can get a few quick traditional portraits before you share the big news with all the important people in your life.
Are you planning a surprise proposal around Boston? How would you keep the element of surprise while getting some pictures of it that will last a lifetime? Let’s scheme together for the perfect proposal!
