There’s a cliché that a million monkeys banging away on a million typewriters could eventually type out the works of Shakespeare and it’s the same for wedding portfolios. After you have a few events under your belt, most photographers can grab 10 images that are compelling and make them look good. So to really understand a photographer, you need to look at a full wedding gallery.

Typically after we’ve had our first phone consultation with a couple, I’ll send out a copy of our contract and links to three wedding galleries (something recent, something I really liked, and then one that I think is relevant to their wedding). In the past I’ve also put larger highlight galleries out on my social media platforms, but Facebook is basically a zombie platform at this point so I can’t say how much longer I’ll be doing that, but I think a few dozen images from a wedding is a good compromise for couples that might be in a hurry.
