BUZZARDS BAY - A spaceman, some pirates and a Grammy nominee walked into a ballroom… It’s not joke. All three and more turned out Aug. 15 to support the National Marine Life Center at the annual Mermaid Ball.
The evening featured dinner, drinks and an auction.

ONSET - The 16th annual Onset Blues festival set out swinging late Saturday morning. With artists like the Racky Thomas Band and Lynwood Slim on stage trading notes back and forth, it was easy to stay cool in the heat.
“What a wonderful, beautiful day for the blues,” Gil Correia, blues artist and assistant emcee, said. “The blues is a feeling people have, and that’s what I have today.”
Correia opened the show. A Wareham resident, the blues man has been supporting he show with his efforts for many years.
