Your Wedding Emergency Kit | Boston Wedding Photographer
In your home you’ve got a first aid kit, in your car you’ve got a roadside emergency kit, but what do you have for your New England wedding? Hopefully you won’t need a Wedding Emergency Kit but having one nearby can give you peace of mind on your special day and get you out of a pinch if there’s a little wardrobe mishap or if there’s a situation that can only be solved by channeling MacGyver.
Below are some of the basics you should include in your kit as well as suggested supplemental items.
The Timeline: A printed sheet of the wedding timeline as well as important contact numbers (venue contact point, photographer, videographer, DJ, Best Man, Maid of Honor, planner, etc.)
Miniature Sewing Kit: These are available easily and include needles, thread, small scissors and a few basic buttons. Consider taking the time to find thread that matches any wedding attire (bridal gown, suits, and bridesmaid dresses). Include a few safety pins in the package.
Travel First Aid Kit: Keep blood off your wedding attire with adhesive strips and gauze. Supplement with your pain relievers of choice in case of headaches or hangovers.
Fashion Tape: A great utility player for keeping things together when a safety pin. If you need a stronger fix (and aren’t trying to attach it to your body), consider throwing some glue in the kit.
Wipes: Great for removing makeup or messes.
Make Up: Talk to your hair and makeup team, figure out what products you’ll be using on the day and get some travel pieces - concealers, lip color, mascara and setting sprays. Q-tips, compact mirrors, sponges, and makeup remover make good supplements. There are travel-sized spray containers you can decant perfume into to freshen up on the day.
Nails: A bit of nail polish remover, a clear coat, and a colored nail polish.
Snacks: A small water bottle and some power bars, just in case you need that extra bit of boost.
Breath Mints: At your wedding you’re going to be smiling and kissing (at least once), so keep your mouth fresh with either breath mints or gum. For a larger kit consider some floss picks, a travel toothbrush, and mini toothpaste and mouthwash.
Miscellaneous: Linter roller, hair spray/bobby pins, extra phone charger, battery bank, and stain removing pens. Extra tampons or pads can also be helpful just in case. If you’re going to be out of doors - sunscreen and bug spray. Consider bringing along a portable clothing steamer to the hotel or wherever you’re getting ready in case you need to handle a few last-minute wrinkles.
