Last Minute Boston Wedding Planning Tips | Boston Wedding Photographer
So you’ve mostly planned your Boston wedding, what’s there left to do in the final months after you’ve booked all the vendors and ticked all the boxes? Here are a few general tips when you can just start to see the finish line and there are only a few months or weeks left before the wedding day.
C’s Get Degrees: Weddings are complicated machines and it’s almost inevitable that something will have fallen through the cracks. When you find those things (signs for the gift table, picking out the song for the cake cutting) panic can set in - but it’s important to step back and get some perspective. Will your wedding fall apart if you play “Sugar” by the Archies, or if you just print the word “gifts” in a script font and chuck it in the first nice frame you find at the thrift store? There are a thousand parts in every wedding and it’s okay if some are just the first things you saw off the shelf.
Self-Care: Planning a wedding can be hectic and stressful, don’t forget to take the time to take care of yourself apart from the wedding or you will get burned out. Make sure to spend time with the people you care about where you don’t talk about the wedding at all, because it can get easy to be caught up in the excitement and all the details.
Break in Your Shoes: When you have the opportunity, wear your wedding shoes to give them a chance to break in so they’re not uncomfortable during your wedding day.
Fit Check: Set aside some time to double check everyone in the wedding party’s outfits. Are the colors and sizes correct? Don’t forget to ask about accessories. For anyone wearing a bridal gown, you’ll also want to practice the bustle with one or two other people so you don’t spend 20 minutes trying to figure it out on the wedding day.
Practice Your Vows: Read your vows aloud when you have the opportunity - this is a great technique for finding any errors you may have missed and seeing what flows well.
Delegate to your VIPs: Many couples getting married in New England are opting to working with a planner or coordinator who can help run interference on the ay of the wedding, but there are still a lot of spinning plates on a wedding day and it can help to have an extra pair of eyes on them. Sit down and make a list of everything you’ll need for the wedding day and where it will need to be and consider asking for help keeping track of it. For example: If you’re headed out for your honeymoon right after the wedding, what’s happening with your luggage? How is breakfast or lunch being handled for the day of the wedding? Who is going to have your phone if you’re wearing a dress without pockets?
